1.In March 1918,Tan Kah Kee,the Jimei-born philanthropist,donated money to establish an ordinary normal school in Jimei,and then set up advanced normal selective courses with five majors:literature, science,history,geography and arts.It began to take on the form of an advanced normal school;In 1927 the preschool normal school was added.
2.In 1927, the Fujian Provincial Government ordered the closure of private school in the name of“unifying standard”.In 1937 when the War of Resistance Against Japan broke out, the school began to cease enrollment.In 1938 it closed down after all students graduated.
3.In 1958, the school moved to Gulangyu and changed its name to Xiamen Normal School.
4.In 1960,the school was renamed as “Xiamen Normal College”.
5.In1963, it wasincorporated into Fujian Second Normal College(located in Zhangzhou).
6.In 1972, Xiamen Normal College was reestablished in Gulangyu.
7.In 1975,the school moved back to Jimei and set up a junior college class of Xiamen Normal College （majoring in physics and chemistry).
8.In 1978, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Xiamen NormalSpecialized Postsecondary College was established with five majors of Chinese, mathematics physics, chemistry and geography.
9.In 1980, with the approval of Fujian Provincial People’s Government,it changed its name to “ Jimei Normal Specialized Postsecondary College”.
10.In October 1994, with the approval of the Ministry of Education,Jimei Normal Specialized Postsecondary Collegewas merged with five educational institutions of Jimei School Village in former times, including Jimei Navigation College, Xiamen Fisheries Institute, Fujian Institute of Physical Education and Jimei Finance and Economics College, to form a provincial multidisciplinary university, Jimei University. Jimei Normal Specialized Postsecondary College was then renamed as Teachers College of Jimei University.
11.In January 1999 when Jimei University substantively realized amalgamation,Teachers Collegebecame the secondary college of Jimei University.
12.In March 2004, in a new round of system reform and institutional adjustment of Jimei University, a brand-new college,Teachers College of the university, was established on the basis of some professional and technical personnel from the Education Department of the former Normal College and the Modern Educational Technology Center of the school.
13.In October 2019, Teachers College of Jimei University was eventually named Normal College of Jimei University.
