In September 2016, the Teachers College of Jimei University signed an agreement with ECNZ (Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand) to carry out cooperation in three projects: one-month overseas apprenticeship, one-semester exchange, and one-year postgraduate program. In July 2017, Li Ke, former vice headmaster of Jimei University, went to New Zealand to sign a school-level co-building agreement with ECNZ, formally opening the prelude to cooperation.
The Preschool Education major is currently discussing and demonstrating with ECNZ the “3 plus 1” joint training model to broaden the international perspective of students by means of online courses and lessons taught by New Zealand teachers, so that students have the opportunity to listen to the voice of New Zealand professional mentors who are the world leader in preschool education. At the same time, the perschool education major’s practice bases include some international kindergartens with good repution, thus students can put what they have learned into practice. In addition, students of Teachers Education Colleges are also encouraged to study in high-level international colleges and universities to make more contributions to China's preschool education. Since 2013, four students have been admitted as postgraduates by well-known foreign universities. Among them, Wu Xingjin, who is in the class of 2015, has been admitted to the University of Auckland, which ranks among the top 50 in global pedagogy.
